These new texts help students practice important reading skills such as fluency, vocabulary development, comprehension, and critical thinking. Books like Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride support our younger readers as they build confidence and develop foundational skills, while titles like Rookie Detective, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, and The Wild Robot challenge older students to think deeply about characters, problem solving, and themes within a story.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom and library is an active and exciting experience. Students gather in small groups for book clubs, read in small groups, and share their thoughts about the stories they are exploring. These books encourage students to ask questions, make predictions, and connect what they read to their own lives. Having a variety of high-interest books available helps students find stories that truly capture their attention.\r\n\r\nI have already seen students eagerly picking up these new books, excited to read and talk about them with their classmates. Some students who were once hesitant readers are now more willing to try new books because they feel confident and interested in the stories. Watching students discover a book they enjoy is incredibly rewarding, and your generosity helped make that possible. Thank you for supporting our readers and helping them grow.","fullyFundedDate":1767988314812,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-build-confident-readers/9987016/","projectTitle":"Books That Build Confident Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Andrews","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398149"},{"teacherId":9064767,"projectId":9988262,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in supporting our 1st grade classroom! Because of you, we received new reading centers, STEM bin activities, and wobbly stools â and my students are absolutely thrilled.\r\n\r\nThe reading centers are already helping my students grow as confident, independent readers. They are excited to rotate through activities that build comprehension and fluency in fun, hands-on ways. The STEM bins have sparked so much creativity and problem-solving. I love watching their faces light up as they build, test, and redesign their ideas.\r\n\r\nThe wobbly stools have also made a huge difference! They allow my students to move while they learn, which helps them stay focused and engaged throughout the day.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has created an environment where learning feels exciting and accessible for every child. These all have been invaluable additions that will significantly enhance our learning environment. The students will benefit greatly from these resources, and I am particularly excited about how the noise-canceling headphones have created a more focused atmosphere for individual work. The paper organization boxes have made an area of the classroom be able to remain more organized and help students be able to get the supplies they have needed quickly and easy to get back to their assignments. Before they had to dig through a pile of paper until they found the correct color they were needing, this was an area of frustration for both the students and me. \r\n\r\nYour kindness and dedication to our classroom are truly appreciated. I am now able to enter a \"flow state\" much faster, increasing my output during complex projects by minimizing external distractions.\r\n\r\nSystemic Efficiency: The organizational tools have cleared the physical clutter from my desk, which in turn has cleared the mental clutter. These new resources improved student engagement, enhanced skill development, and allowed me to deliver higher-quality instruction. By upgrading essential equipment, I was able to create a safer, more motivating, and more inclusive learning environment for all students.\r\n\r\nThe new squat rack significantly improved how I teach strength and conditioning. Before having it, my lessons focused mostly on bodyweight exercises and demonstrations without allowing students to experience proper lifting techniques. With the squat rack available, I can now teach correct squat form, bar placement, and safe lifting practices in a hands-on way. Students are able to adjust the weight to match their individual skill levels, which helps build confidence and encourages participation. I have also noticed increased interest from students who enjoy fitness and weight training, as the equipment feels relevant to real-world exercise settings.\r\n\r\nThe squat rack has also helped me reinforce responsibility and safety in the classroom. I teach students how to spot one another correctly, follow safety procedures, and care for shared equipment. These routines have strengthened teamwork and accountability among students. The presence of professional-grade equipment has raised students' expectations and focus, leading to more productive class periods. Students take the lessons more seriously and show greater respect for the space and the activities.\r\n\r\nThe addition of new footballs has had an equally positive effect on my classes. Previously, worn or damaged footballs made it difficult for students to throw, catch, and kick effectively. This often caused frustration and limited skill development. With new footballs, students experience better grip, improved accuracy, and more consistent performance. This allows me to focus lessons on skill development, strategy, and teamwork instead of managing equipment-related challenges.\r\n\r\nI have also noticed that new footballs increased student participation and enjoyment. Students are more excited to take part in drills and games, and even those who were hesitant or lacked confidence have shown improvement. The improved equipment makes activities more accessible and reduces anxiety about making mistakes. As a result, students communicate better, cooperate more effectively, and demonstrate improved sportsmanship during team activities.\r\n\r\nOverall, the new squat rack and footballs have elevated the quality of my physical education program. These additions allow me to better meet student goals while promoting physical fitness, safety, and personal growth. Most importantly, they have helped me create a classroom environment where students feel motivated, supported, and encouraged to develop lifelong healthy habits.","fullyFundedDate":1767981339611,"projectUrl":"project/stronger-students-stronger-futures/9986469/","projectTitle":"Stronger Students, Stronger Futures","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Huber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8137309"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83008","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":335,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":59.5,"schoolId":83008,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carlin Combined School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carlin Combined School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/elko-county-school-district/carlin-combined-school/83008"}
