The new robots have allowed our classroom to continue to be a place of collaboration, communication, and creativity as students work together to solve puzzles, navigate obstacles, and maneuver their creations with pride and determination.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest compliments I've received came from a fellow teacher who shared that my students say, \"We don't learn in Mrs. Richardson's class, we play.\" What they don't realize is how much math, critical thinking, and perseverance they're developing through that \"play.\" The soundtrack of our classroom—filled with cheers, applause, and laughter—is all thanks to you. As a tray, the crayons can easily be moved to whatever table students need them. Individually, students can share requested colors. It took time for all students to categorize the colors on a regular basis, but now it is part of the clean-up routine. Students even redistribute colors between the trays if they see one tray has too few. \r\nOnce the light covers were hung, the excitement and fascination were palpable. I regulary refer to them whenever the reading describes a season, even as reference in the setting. We also use them when forming groups for activities. One of my favorite moments was when students gathered food from the dramatic play area, taking it under the autumn light cover, saying they wanted to have a picnic. When asked why they choose the autumn season, they replied, \"So we can feel cooler and watch the leaves fall.\" These covers have helped my students understand seasons in an engaging way. \r\nThank you for making these ongoing experiences and learning happen!","fullyFundedDate":1754216339475,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-students-and-their-success/9408146/","projectTitle":"Supporting Students and Their Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tratos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8108928"},{"teacherId":8486354,"projectId":8001030,"letterContent":"I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that contributed to my classroom wishlist. Your generous donations have already made a huge difference for my students, and will continue to benefit future learners for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe cozy flagship carpet is where students can sit comfortably during group reading, peer interactions, and calming activities. It's already a favorite spot! The astrobrights colored paper that adds excitement to every assignment — from visual supports to creative projects. My students light up when they see their work on these vibrant pages! We now have sturdy book and binder holders that have helped us organize our library beautifully, making it easier for students to access books and materials independently. My students love to work with the Do-a-Dot art markers. These markers spark creativity and provide a sensory-friendly way to express emotions and ideas; a big win for emotional and fine motor development.\r\n\r\nStudent love to use the sensory season tubes which are now a calming part of our classroom. These have been an amazing tool for students who need a moment to reset or self-regulate. Bulk highlighters and reading strips that support our literacy time by helping students track text, build focus, and feel more confident as readers. Additionally the pencil grips help to make writing easier and more comfortable, especially for students working on fine motor skills and hand strength.\r\n\r\nEach of these items has already played a role in helping my students grow — emotionally, academically, and socially. It means the world to see them thrive in a space where they feel supported, safe, and engaged.\r\n\r\nThank you for being a part of their journey. Since Covid we are seeing distrubing trends such as reading regression, a lack of phonics and phoenmic awareness, a lack of interest, not having quiet time to read in their classrooms, not having time to build reading stamina, and just not having the patience to read high level novels. Since I'm the librarian, I have the honor of displaying books ontop of our shelves and placing them in books bins as students read or look at books while they're waiting to check out. \r\nAs the librarian, I see 600 students and their interests vary. Many will only choose one type of book like Dogman, Baby Sitters Club (Graphic Novels), the Creepy Carrot books, etc. That being said, I will promote books and students will enjoy checking them out afterwards. While the books I choose is not their first choices, It's very important to me that I broaden their reading choices in order for them to learn about other members of their community.
