Guided reading groups are a focus of mine in the classroom. This small group instructional time will allow for more personalized instruction that will allow my readers to grow farther, faster. Eighty percent of my classroom is reading below grade level. However, I know that these materials are the first step in closing the gap. My students will use these folders to keep their guided reading group assignments. They will use the sticky notes to utilize the reading strategy of annotation while in their guided reading groups. They will use the highlighters to "notice and note" themes, details, text-to-self connections, and so much more.
