Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our classroom and has given my fourth-grade students more opportunities to discover the joy of reading.\r\n\r\nThe new books have helped introduce students to new ideas, different perspectives, interesting characters, and a variety of genres. As we read, students are learning important skills such as identifying the main idea, making inferences, understanding characters, building vocabulary, and using evidence from the text to support their thinking. These books also give students opportunities to practice reading fluently and talking about what they have read.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is much more than simply reading words on a page. Students read independently, with partners, in small groups, and together as a class. We stop to discuss the story, make predictions, ask questions, and connect what we are reading to our own experiences and the world around us. Having engaging books available makes these experiences much more exciting for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding things has been seeing students who were hesitant about reading begin to find books that interest them. Some students who would normally avoid reading are now excited to choose a book and share what they are learning or enjoying. Watching students become more confident and realize that they can be successful readers is incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nYour donation has provided more than just books.
