These hands-on tools help make abstract math concepts concrete, visual, and easier for my students to understand. Students can physically represent numbers, count objects, recognize quantities, create patterns and shapes, and explore addition and subtraction.\r\n\r\nI have used Ten frames to strengthen number sense and help students recognize quantities as well as helping my students understand how numbers can be composed and decomposed. Wikki Stix provide a tactile way for my students to form numbers, shapes, and patterns while also strengthening fine-motor skills.\r\n\r\nOverall, these manipulatives have helped my students begin to build a strong foundation in number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. They are more engaged and confident. My students loved using the Model Magic clay, metallic markers, glass cabochon eyes and gloss to create their own magical dragon eye sculptures. They used their imaginations to make unique designs and were excited to see their sculptures become presentable with a shiny and polished final layer of gloss.\r\n\r\nThe project also connected art with writing, speaking, and listening. Students wrote about their dragons and then shared their stories and artwork with the class.
