Through different activities and games, they are building teamwork while challenging themselves to problem-solve and collaborate with one another. We even took a short break from our football unit to focus on creating positive roles within our class and making sure everyone contributes to a fun and safe environment during PE.\r\n\r\nThe students were especially excited when they saw the new parachute. They knew our previous one had ripped, so having a new one to use brought a lot of smiles and energy to class. The volleyballs and tetherballs have also been a big hit during recess. Several students had been asking for volleyballs for quite some time, so when they saw them available they were absolutely thrilled. When the boxes arrived, we were excited each day! One student immediately reached for the new noise-cancelling headphones for a loud assembly and was able to enjoy it more with his classmates because of this. Seeing my students realize that they now have tools designed specifically for how their \"every brain\" works was a powerful moment for our classroom community.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these resources was felt the very same day we unboxed them. During our independent writing time, several students chose to use the flexible lap desks to find a comfortable spot on the carpet, staying completely engaged in their writing rather than sitting and choosing not to work at their traditional desks. The new storage carts and bins have also transformed our transitions; because everything has a clear place, my students are becoming much more independent and spending less time waiting and more time learning.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these supplies will be essential for our upcoming literacy centers. We'll be using the markers, sticky notes, and laminating pouches to create durable vocabulary stations and to help students annotate their texts during small-group instruction. Your contribution made it possible for our class to restock the classroom library with new leveled AR reading books for our fourth-grade classroom. With the help of your support, my students will have enough reading material to keep them active and engaged with reading for the entire school year. This new engagement in reading will help to instill a love of reading in my students for many years to come. \r\n\r\nThe books that my class received from this project are an incredible blessing. These students are now able to select books at their own level from a wide variety of high-interest materials. Our class's AR goals are now consistently being met, and the students' reading levels are showing incredible growth. Along with the growth in reading, this exposure to new text and a variety of authors is also improving the class's writing skills.","fullyFundedDate":1768099603084,"projectUrl":"project/fourth-grade-reading-adventures/9989542/","projectTitle":"Fourth Grade Reading Adventures!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hedrick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8128109"},{"teacherId":7450783,"projectId":8013808,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students now have the resources they need to learn, explore, and focus in ways that weren't possible before. The folding stadium seats have been a game-changer—students can choose a comfortable spot around the classroom to work independently or in small groups. I've noticed that they stay more focused and engaged, and behavior during independent work time has improved significantly.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the noise-canceling headphones, their faces lit up with excitement! Some students who are sensitive to sound now have a quiet space to concentrate, and they feel more confident participating in lessons without distractions. The magnetic whiteboards, desk dividers, and organizational tools have also helped make learning more interactive and hands-on. For example, during a math lesson, students used the magnetic number lines to solve problems on the board, which made abstract concepts easier to understand and more fun.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to continue using these resources to support upcoming lessons and projects. Students are eager to use the laminated cards and labels for reading and writing centers, and the whiteboard easel will be used for collaborative group work. My students and I have been putting the new resources to great use. The jumbo pencils and pencil pouches have been a huge hit, especially among my younger learners who benefit from the larger grip. The Mr. Sketch markers and flip chart markers have brought our lessons to life, making anchor charts more engaging and colorful. One specific moment that stands out was during a group writing activity: students used the astrobright paper to create story maps, and the vibrant colors truly sparked their creativity. It was amazing to see how the visual appeal of the materials motivated them to participate more actively and confidently share their ideas.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up with excitement and curiosity. Many of them had never used such colorful or high-quality supplies before, and it made them feel valued and inspired. The next step in our classroom is a collaborative storytelling project where students will write and illustrate their own books using the astrobright paper and markers.
