These new books have quickly become a central part of our daily routine, and my students are beyond excited to explore them each day.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is active, joyful, and meaningful. During our literacy block, students rotate through small groups, partner reading, and independent browsing time. We use books to build foundational skills like recognizing letters and sounds, understanding story structure (beginning, middle, end), identifying characters and settings, and practicing retelling. We also use these texts to develop comprehension skills by asking and answering questions, making predictions, and connecting stories to our own lives.\r\n\r\nThese new books have allowed me to introduce a wider range of lessons in a more engaging way. For example, we've been able to compare characters across stories, explore nonfiction text features, and build vocabulary through rich, authentic language. Having a variety of books at different levels means every student can access texts that feel \"just right\" for them, which is so important in kindergarten.\r\n\r\nOne of the most special moments has been watching certain students truly light up with these new books. I have a few students who were previously hesitant about reading, but now they eagerly choose books, sit with a partner, and proudly \"read\" the pictures or retell the story in their own words. Other students love revisiting their favorite titles again and again, building confidence and fluency each time.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, reading in our classroom is no longer just a subject—it's an experience. You've helped create a space where students feel excited, capable, and inspired to become lifelong readers. From the moment the materials arrived, my students' excitement was contagious—they were eager, curious, and couldn't wait to dive in. Watching their faces light up as they explored the new resources was a moment I won't forget.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun using these materials during our small group instruction and hands-on learning centers. One standout moment was during our literacy block, when students used the new resources to practice phonics skills through interactive activities. I saw students who typically need extra support become more confident and engaged, eagerly participating and even helping their classmates. It has truly created a more inclusive and motivating learning environment.\r\n\r\nThese resources have allowed me to better differentiate instruction and meet each student where they are. My students are more focused, collaborative, and excited about learning each day. They feel proud using \"real\" tools that support their growth, and it has made a noticeable impact on both their confidence and academic progress.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue to incorporate these materials into our daily lessons, especially as we build toward end-of-year goals and prepare for first grade. We are excited to use them in upcoming activities that focus on strengthening foundational reading and math skills, as well as fostering independence and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is a place where students feel empowered, supported, and inspired to learn. With the adapters, students can clearly hear everything without distractions. This helps them stay focused, better understand lessons, and work at their own pace. It also allows everyone to use their Chromebooks at the same time without noise becoming an issue.\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited because everything is now easier. Students have been so excited to be able to use these new trays. We just finished a lovely canvas art project and as you can see in the photos, these plastic trays are wonderful for resting wet paintings on the new drying racks. I have created a very organized system for paint projects. Students line up at the art store and place all their painting supplies onto one of the plastic trays. Supplies include a cup of water with brushes, a palette, a small sponge in a plastic bowl, and their canvas. For many projects before having these trays, students needed to carry all of these supplies by hand- and paint spills occurred. Now supplies are easy to grab.\r\nAlso, the end of class clean-up has been made more efficient. Student keep their trays at their table. When instructed they take back all their table supplies on their tray. Then come back with their canvas on the tray to store on the drying racks.\r\nBecause of these new materials, students will need less time to prepare for painting and to clean up at the end of class. This in turn results in lots of gained Studio Time for them to paint and create. Our next project will involve use of the Cricut machine. I am looking forward to cutting designs for the student's shape artwork.","fullyFundedDate":1768252092567,"projectUrl":"project/lets-dry-those-canvases-and-cut-that-pa/10003633/","projectTitle":"Let's Dry Those Canvases and Cut That Paper!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ramsey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8036725_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y80&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630950395934","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-andrea-ramsey"},{"teacherId":7075802,"projectId":7995510,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donation of books to our classroom.
