The books will be used for a variety of purposes, including independent reading and whole group read alouds. The read alouds will help to address grade level standards, social/emotional skills, and a lifelong love of literature. By choosing high interest books, my hope is that my students will rush to my classroom eager to find out what happens next in our stories. It is important to me that students have a choice in the books they read, which is why I am requesting a variety of different stories. Well loved classics such as Junie B. Jones and Captain Underpants will take their place next to newer titles like Dog Man and works by Julia Cook. Having books that appeal to all my readers helps build student identity in my classroom. In addition to books, I am also requesting classroom manipulatives such as rulers and dice. This will be used in math time to gain practice in grade level skills. Thank you for considering donating to my project and bringing new books into my classroom.
