In large part it is because I know that our Library Collection has the signage, displays, and organization it needs to meet my almost all of my readers' needs from day one! (I say almost because the beauty of Library is it is always evolving and changing to meet the needs of our learners!) These book bins from Lakeshore have made all the difference!! \r\n\r\nI hope that the pictures give you bit of a glimpse into our bustling School Library and how the bins are being used. We had Open House this past Friday. Many of my returning students already noticed sections of books had been moved and colorful bins added- with signage for what they contain. Several of our new Hero Families commented on the welcoming and happy feel of the Library. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping with this. I could not afford all the little \"extras\" that make a HUGE difference in circulation and book joy without you and Donorschoose.","fullyFundedDate":1785272082220,"projectUrl":"project/we-know-where-our-favorite-books-are/10294597/","projectTitle":"We Know Where Our Favorite Books Are!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smead, Teacher-Librarian","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3106361_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1783028234162","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-smeadlovestoread"},{"teacherId":3106361,"projectId":10385269,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for bringing this project to fruition right as I am setting up Library for Back to School!!! 🌞 Students and their families will be in THIS coming Friday afternoon!!! I used the last two containers of wipes the same day the other containers came!! It was one of those Happy Dance Moments knowing I had the resources to keep going. I also tucked one set in a few strategic spaces for easy access cleaning up at the end of the day!\r\n\r\nAdditionally, I started to prep my Duty Bag and Kinder Duty Bucket. These wipes fit PERFECTLY into the bag without taking up space for other items I need. There is also one in my green Kinder Duty Bucket with, among other items, a box of tissue and extra wipes and band-aids. \r\n\r\nHaving over 100 individuals come in and out of Library everyday we have many needs where we might want to quickly squirt hands because we are not able to get to a sink at that moment. And, it is not just us adults with needs, it is my students, as well. I put the new one in our high traffic area near doors to meet the needs of our bustling students and staff. \r\n\r\nI have tucked rolls of paper towels in our gathering area where my Primary Grades start Library Class with our Mentor Text Read Aloud, one near the table area where all grades collaborate, work and sit after check out, and I also tucked one by our main door where we also have our large, roller rubbish bin right inside the hall. I then stuck plastic gloves in the tubes. Besides being used to clean book covers, tables, and shelving, we are now ready for those quick emergencies where more than tissue is needed like bloody noses, bleeding lose and freshly pulled teeth, upset tummies. And, as you can see from the picture of the box the rolls came in- we are set for a while!!! 🥳WOOHOOO!!!! It truly makes a difference when we do not have to worry we have enough supplies. \r\n\r\nI thought you might like to see a picture of Library and how some of it looks all shiny, new, clean and ready for check out!! Staff actually will be in starting on Wednesday for parts of Staff Development. Because of your donations, my students now have access to engaging, hands-on materials like the light-up bubble aquarium machine, dinosaur sensory wall, hexagon lights, and puzzles that have already made a meaningful impact on their learning. We've been using these resources during small group instruction, sensory breaks, and independent play to support communication, fine motor skills, and self-regulation. One special moment that stood out was watching a student calmly engage with the bubble aquarium during a sensory break, helping them reset and return to learning ready to participate. When the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement—especially the glowing hexagon lights and interactive sensory wall—which immediately drew them in and encouraged exploration.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has truly helped create a more supportive and engaging learning environment for my students. When I finally sit down to plan over the summer with my long range plans, it is such a financial relief to have the Teacher Pay Teacher Card as I set up my plans. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, the card literally impacts hundred and hundreds of students over years. Just this past week, I was using a former NYRA Nominee that I originally used about six years ago, and, it was so loved, I have used it every other year. I am able to go back in to my TPT Purchases and see what I have that I could use this time around. This particular book I love because the main character hula hoops, and as part of the lessons, K-1 gets to hoop in the courtyard outside of Library practicing vocabulary like \"shimmie, clattter,\" and not looking \"smug\" and \"smirking.\" However, this text is FULL of different examples of figurative language, which 2nd & 3rd love, and love revisiting a favorite book from 2 years prior and using it in an expanded way. The scanner has been super beneficial as the cord no longer gets in the way! It may not seem like a big deal, but when you have a double and there is a line of eager readers, it makes a huge difference. \r\n\r\nThe blue book bins have been so instrumental in helping our \"Scary Book\" section increase the Circulation. Students see the series and front covers MUCH easier, as well as being able to pull out the bin to go through it. I was finally able to add the front cover labels, and that was even more exciting. It makes the entire section so much more organized and inviting! THANK YOU!!!!\r\n\r\nMy favorite use for the colored writing strips has been one that many staff and students have commented on. I took one and wrote, \"I am the Hero of my own story.\" The other is \"Is it fiction or nonfiction?\" I put one on each of the large, interactive, teaching TVs. Being the Harmon Heroes, it is even more important that my readers see THEY have it in them to be the Hero of their lives, which are not always easy. The other, I have been working this year with every lesson that students ask themselves before they start - Is it fiction or nonfiction?
