The puppets have been especially helpful in encouraging students who are still developing their language skills to participate, answer questions, retell familiar stories, and use new vocabulary.\r\n\r\nWe are also using the rhyming and beginning-sound activities during small groups to provide hands-on practice with important phonological awareness skills. The animal counters and creature-building materials encourage students to describe, compare, create, and talk with their classmates while they play. These resources have allowed me to provide extra support for multilingual learners and students with developmental delays in a way that feels inviting and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using these materials throughout the year to help students move from listening and responding to independently telling stories, producing rhymes, identifying beginning sounds, and confidently expressing their own ideas. They immediately wanted to see how it worked and were fascinated by the changing lights and alarm. We have been using it during PE lessons to help students become more aware of their voice levels. When the noise gets too loud, the red light flashes and the alarm sounds, giving students a quick reminder to lower their voices without the teacher having to stop the lesson.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching students start monitoring themselves. Instead of waiting for me to tell them to be quieter, they began noticing the red light and reminding themselves and their classmates to lower their voices. This has helped us spend less time correcting noise levels and more time moving, playing, and learning!\r\n\r\nAs we continue our PE lessons, students will keep practicing self-management and working together to create an environment where everyone can hear directions and participate.
