Kindergarten is where a majority of students have their first experience with many subject matter; like science, geometry and social studies. The resources I have asked for will allow all my students to utilize realia instead of a minimal amount. The unfix cubes will allow for all students to have materials to work with instead of a portion. When I'm teaching standard K.OA.A.2 my students will all have actual objects to count with and write on.
My students need practice writing, learning the letters of the alphabet and the sounds the letters make RF.K.3. Having the whiteboards and chart paper will help my students with this standard. Because of the lack of PreK/Head start attendance my students need more assistance with writing.
The lap desk and cushions will allow for these students who haven't had to sit at desk all day receive the flexibility they need to learn in a way that is most comfortable to them. I'm a firm believer that we all learn in different ways, having the lap desk and cushions will allow my students the opportunity to truly take advantage of the limited flexible seating I'm trying to provide.
For science my students are working on a hydroponics project to see where food comes from. During COVID many families were ordering in and the adults did the shopping by themselves, because of this many of my students are clueless as to where food comes from. Having the plant light and plant food will aid in my students hydroponics project. Our goal is to get the food to grow so it can be eaten.
The resources I've requested will allow for my current and future students to meet multiple standards in math, science and reading.
