The materials that were donated will have a huge impact on my students to achieve higher standards as they move forward in their education. Being able to learn on an equal footing with other students in the district will help my kids be able to get their full potential out of the lessons they learn each day. The donation for the headphones for the classroom will be put to good use right away in how the students prepare this year for standardized testing. In the past, my students had to share my small supply of headphones (5 sets for a class of 17) so having to share or students just not using the sets was the norm. \r\n Now with the new material I got in the donation I have enough sets for everyone in the class plus a few extras as backups if needed for my co-teacher if necessary. The reason this helped so much is that during MAPs or IReady testing the directions and specific sounds (example phonetic matching ) some children could not hear since they had no headphones and may have missed crucial instructions or a question hence lowering their overall performance. With the new sets all students in the class will get the instructions clearly and scores will go up making them ready to tackle harder tasks and preparing them for the next grade better. The students when they received the new headphones were excited since it gave them something to use and take care of during the school year. \r\n Students that were most impacted by this donation were my IEP students who needed accommodations for taking online tests.","fullyFundedDate":1778068744101,"projectUrl":"project/mr-jones-children-of-the-future/10053873/","projectTitle":"Mr. Jones- Children of the Future","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10416542"},{"teacherId":7608780,"projectId":5246532,"letterContent":"A Game-Changer for Our Tiny Readers\r\n\r\nThe impact of the new digital resources and headphones in our first-grade classroom has been nothing short of magical. In first grade, learning to read is all about building confidence, and these tools have given my students a massive boost.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived and I pulled out the vibrant, shiny new headphones and opened up the new digital portals, the classroom erupted. \"Are those for us?!\" \"We look like real pilots!\" First graders wear their emotions right on their sleeves, and their reaction was a mix of pure awe and Christmas-morning excitement. They couldn't wait to test them out. The sheer pride they felt knowing that people out there cared enough to send these gifts directly to our classroom was palpable. They immediately treated the materials like absolute treasure, carefully wrapping up the cords and placing them in their designated bins.","fullyFundedDate":1606847860712,"projectUrl":"project/dive-into-digital/5246532/","projectTitle":"Dive into Digital","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bananto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7608780"},{"teacherId":7608780,"projectId":10028767,"letterContent":"Thank You for Bringing Our Classroom to Life!\r\n\r\nBecause of your incredible generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a bustling, hands-on science lab! When the boxes first arrived, my students' reactions were absolutely priceless. There were gasps, wide eyes, and an immediate chorus of \"Are those for us?!\" and \"What are we making first?\" The pure excitement in the room was palpable, and it set the perfect stage for learning.\r\n\r\nThe Impact: Science, Slime, and Smiles\r\nWe put these fantastic new materials to use right away with a deeply engaging (and delightfully messy) chemistry lesson: making custom slime!\r\n\r\nThe students used the resources to measure, mix, and observe chemical reactions firsthand. A standout moment was watching a student who usually stays quiet during textbook lessons completely light up. They became the \"head scientist\" of their group, carefully adjusting the activator to get the perfect stretchy consistency. The materials didn't just teach them about polymers and states of matter; they gave my students the freedom to experiment, fail, tweak their formulas, and ultimately succeed.\r\n\r\n\"This is the best science day ever!\" was a phrase I heard echoed across the room more than once.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for Our Students\r\nThe momentum from this project isn't stopping here. Now that the students have mastered the basics of mixing and material properties, our next step is to take this current lesson to a global scale.\r\n\r\nWe are moving into an Environmental Science unit, where students will use their knowledge of materials and polymers to study microplastics and pollution. They will be designing their own eco-friendly, biodegradable alternatives to everyday plastics using some of the remaining resources.\r\n\r\nYour support did so much more than just buy supplies—it sparked a genuine love for discovery in these students. Seeing two students tucked into their new, comfortable chairs, huddled over a brand-new science reader, was magical. At first, the students were a bit hesitant to try something new, but after just one day of using them, they completely fell in love. Now, they are excited to use them and more involved in their learning than ever before.\r\nBecause so much of our classwork is online, students already have laptops on their desks throughout the day. The compact size of the writing tablets has been a game-changer, giving them more space to work comfortably during small group rotations. Because of your generosity, my 4th grade students were able to experience math in a real and meaningful way.\r\nThis project went beyond just practicing math skills. Students took on real-world roles by writing resumes and participating in job interviews that I conducted in class. From there, I hired students for three positions: cashier, customer service, and stock person. The cashier earned $25 a day, while the customer service representative and stock person earned $15 a day.\r\nStudents also created their own name tags and took ownership of their roles by helping open and close the store every Friday. This structure gave them consistency and something to look forward to each week.\r\nThe class store allowed students to apply important math skills like addition, subtraction, and working with money in a hands-on way. They practiced budgeting, making purchases, and calculating change, which made learning more engaging and meaningful. I saw a huge increase in confidence, especially in students who typically struggle with math.\r\nIn addition, students developed responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills.
