Our students need to feel safe and need a place to gather for a collaborative environment, SL.2.1. The rug with more than enough spots will give them a place to do that while keeping the required distance. Children learn better in a safe, uncluttered atmosphere and we need accessible storage. The SEL components of this project will give our second graders the language they need to meet those standards of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relational skills, and responsible decision-making. The storage unit will create a space to make their books more accessible, RL.2.10 and provide space for their new tools for phonics, RF.2.3, and a writing center, W.2.5.
