We use whiteboards every day, and our erasers were looking a little rough. Attendance has been an issue for the past few years within the school district that I work. We are a Title I funded school, meaning the majority of the student population come from low-income households. With the various barriers that come along with poverty, the motivation to go to school has been low with the students in the district. A new incentive program was needed.\r\n\r\nThe gifts you provided gave the student a tangible goal to work towards. Many students are still concrete thinkers and are not able to see the future benefit of consistent attendance in school, especially when they have so many things going on in their lives. Something as small as a piece of candy or a stress ball for coming to school made a huge difference.. The gifts were received with surprise, smiles, and gratitude. The larger prizes were a huge motivation for the students. Through your donation, the kids who are often not acknowledged for \"trying\" felt seen and valued for their efforts. \r\n\r\nMore than half of the students involved reached their attendance goal as a result of the program. Because it was successful, the administration will continue to implement the NBA program, matching students with mentors and providing incentives for those that attend school.
