For one student, I even had to make a new book bag because she took and returned the bag so many times it wore out! \r\n\r\nThe impact of your donation cannot be understated. Two students in particular benefitted and have taken off with their reading. One is a bilingual child, and English is their second language. In the spring, they approached me and said they were done with the book bags because they were moving on to chapter books. When I administered a quick assessment, I found that after two months of gentle increases in reading levels, the past month had, indeed, seen a serious acceleration, to the point where the final reading level was 10 levels above where they had started, meaning they were now on grade level. The second student experiences challenges with attention, and the decodable books assisted their engagement when we traced the letters with fingers and acted out what happened in the books to engage kinesthetically with text. While this student did not experience as dramatic an increase as the first one mentioned, their levels DID increase, as did self-image and comfort with reading.\r\n\r\nThank you!","fullyFundedDate":1733176942951,"projectUrl":"project/decodable-books-for-2nd-grade-readers/8862281/","projectTitle":"Decodable Books for 2nd Grade Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Krider","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5033865_orig.jpg?crop=481,481,x0,y142&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565636975320","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5033865"},{"teacherId":9790093,"projectId":8854890,"letterContent":"Thank you for the new materials for my classroom! My students were thrilled to have brand new whiteboards, markers and erasers to use for their math review work. \r\n\r\nMath review is a 15 minute chunk of time when students practice computation skills at their own level. Having a white board, marker and eraser for each student cuts down on set up and clean up time for this short activity during the day. We are currently working on division facts 1-10 where some kids are still using visuals to divide and we draw them out on the whiteboards. The kids truly love using the materials each day and I have added a new whiteboard holder to the room that holds all of the boards.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity we so appreciate the gift in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1733237677150,"projectUrl":"project/math-practice-made-simple/8854890/","projectTitle":"Math Practice Made Simple!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hausman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9790093"},{"teacherId":4479286,"projectId":8856748,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to help us buy books we could sound out and read.
