These resources have already made a profound impact on our daily environment.\r\n\r\nWe are using these resources to provide a dedicated space for students to practice self-regulation and mindfulness. \r\n\r\nWhen a student was feeling particularly overwhelmed by a challenging task, instead of a meltdown, they asked to spend time in the calm corner. They curled up on the green rug with the blue pillow, practiced their deep breathing, and returned to their desk five minutes later, ready to try again. It was a beautiful win for their independence and emotional growth.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up! There were audible \"oohs\" and \"aahs\" as they took turns feeling how soft the rug was. safe and comfortable.\r\n\r\nThank you for seeing the value in our students' emotional well-being. In their bags I added an egg filled with popcorn kernels so they had egg shakers. I also cut up pool noodles into 1.5 inch discs so they could use them as scrapers. For the younger students I cut up individual scarves so we could do scarf dances! And for the older students they got recorders so we could continue learning new instruments. I laminated a page and added whiteboard markers to the bags as well so students could respond easily during large class time. \r\n\r\nThese materials also were super helpful when we came back to school because we still couldn't share anything so I used the left overs and created classroom sets of everything so we could still do music! \r\n\r\nThank you!","fullyFundedDate":1598907613288,"projectUrl":"project/music-class-bags-of-fun/5099650/","projectTitle":"Music Class Bags of Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Palmatier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6856851_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x259,y38&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597257535389","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6856851"},{"teacherId":3551355,"projectId":9274504,"letterContent":"On behalf of the children, families and staff at Dayton's Bluff Elementary, I want to extend our deepest gratitude for your incredibly generous donation of baby dolls. This gift is already making a tangible and positive impact on the social and emotional learning of the children in our care.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we believe that play is the most powerful vehicle for learning, and your donation has immediately enriched our dramatic play and SEL activities. These dolls are more than just toys—they are essential tools that facilitate crucial development in the following ways:\r\n\r\nAs the kindergarteners hold, feed, and rock the dolls, they are actively practicing empathy and developing a sense of responsibility. They learn to recognize and respond to the needs of others, a foundational skill for all future relationships.\r\n\r\nDuring role-playing scenarios, children use the dolls to act out family dynamics and social situations. This promotes communication skills, encourages cooperation as they share resources, and helps them process their world in a safe, imaginative space.\r\n\r\nBy engaging in focused, nurturing play, children naturally practice calming strategies and learn to manage their own emotions as they soothe the \"baby.\" This directly supports their ability to self-regulate in challenging situations.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful contribution has significantly strengthened our commitment to building emotionally intelligent and compassionate young learners. Thank you for investing in the heart of our classroom and helping us nurture a generation of children who understand how to care for themselves and others.","fullyFundedDate":1755727242145,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-big-hearts-a-doll-fundrai/9274504/","projectTitle":"Little Hands, Big Hearts: a Doll Fundraiser","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Walter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3551355_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1459196318668","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3551355"},{"teacherId":6383178,"projectId":9170750,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity. The kids were so excited to find out that our project was fully funded. When our boxes of equipment arrived they couldn't wait to tear them open to see what was inside and start using all of it. Many of my students come from low income families so getting packages in the mail to open is a big deal. The excitement on their faces was priceless.\r\n\r\nWe have used the foam dice and manipulative cubes multiple times for incorporating math in PE. The kids have even invented their own game with the dice, I attached a picture of them on the scooters playing it. They are a great piece of equipment because they are easy to catch and throw without the fear of getting hurt so the kids enjoy playing catch with them as well.\r\n. \r\nThe cones and poly spots have been crucial in helping my younger students understand the boundaries of games. They need visuals and the larger size cones are helpful to mark the areas of play. They also provide direction for my obstacle course as well. The poly spots are also used for throwing and catching games when we do partner work.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my project and giving my students equipment that will enhance their learning experience in physical education.","fullyFundedDate":1746488857458,"projectUrl":"project/get-my-dragons-fit/9293323/","projectTitle":"Get my Dragons Fit!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Franz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5024166"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_76130","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":301,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":28,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.1,"schoolId":76130,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dayton's Bluff Achievement Plus Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dayton's Bluff Achievement Plus Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/saint-paul-public-schools/daytons-bluff-elementary-school/76130"}
