The sensory and motivational items provided comfort and encouragement, while the bracelets served as lasting reminders of each student's personal commitment.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, students had the opportunity to learn, reflect, and take action by making a pledge to be drug free. The students as well as other staff benefited. I have switched schools and am hopeful to provide the same program to students and staff. They are grateful as well. \r\nLast year students learned new coping skills, learned to journal, and were able to have a snack when hungry. My ninth grade students used the headphones to watch a video to learn about the life of William Shakespeare and what life was like in Elizabethan England.\r\n\r\nThe new headphones are also available for students who prefer to listen to audiobooks (while following along) rather than reading themselves. Some of the students who use this feature have learning diasabilities, and the headphones allow them access to the text.\r\n\r\nI have one particular tenth grade student who really enjoys using the headphones during work time. This student is incredibly bright and is easily distracted by the noises of a busy classroom.
