Many students who had never picked up a book this size before are now eagerly turning the pages, captivated by both the artwork and the story's intensity. Your generosity has turned an ordinary reading experience into something truly magical for our cheetahs.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, one of the greatest joys I experience is watching students connect with stories — seeing their curiosity spark, their imaginations light up, and their confidence as readers grow. The Harry Potter series has a special way of doing all three. For many of my students, especially those who may not always find joy in reading due to language barriers, this illustrated series opens that door for the first time. Thanks to your support, that door is now wide open as the books are extremely accessible.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, the excitement in the classroom was unbelievable. Students crowded around, eager to open each volume, gasping at the artwork and pointing out favorite characters and creatures. Even those who had never cracked open a Harry Potter book before were instantly drawn in and kept asking to borrow the books.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of every wide-eyed student flipping through these pages: thank you. These texts have opened doors to lessons on analyzing characters, exploring history, and connecting with real-life heroes. My students are practicing skills like predicting, summarizing, and making inferences, but they are also learning something bigger—how to see themselves in stories and how reading connects us to the wider world. For deaf students, having access to engaging, relevant books builds both language and confidence, and it shows them that their voices and experiences belong in the world of literature.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom is now one of the most joyful parts of the day. Students settle in with their books, sometimes reading independently, other times signing their favorite parts to classmates. The room feels alive with discussion and curiosity. They are learning not just how to decode words, but how to love stories, how to imagine, and how to share their thoughts with others.\r\n\r\nOne of my students who was once hesitant to pick up a book now races to grab the new biographies we received—she proudly shares facts she has learned about leaders and trailblazers, signing them to her peers with a big smile. Another student who usually prefers to write rather than read has been drawn into our new graphic novels, connecting with the illustrations and storytelling in a way that makes reading feel more accessible and fun. These books are doing more than filling shelves—they are sparking passion, giving my students heroes to look up to, and showing them that reading can be a lifelong source of joy and empowerment.","fullyFundedDate":1742154708474,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-deaf-students-with-heroes-his/9128696/","projectTitle":"Inspiring Deaf Students with Heroes, History, & Love for Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kline","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6154584"},{"teacherId":5409354,"projectId":9178093,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity. We recently took our first nature walk in the rain, and it was such a special moment. They were full of curiosity, touching leaves, watching insects, and asking thoughtful questions about what they observed in nature.\r\n\r\nTheir faces lit up the moment they saw the gear.
