It has been a long lonely winter with 90% of students homebound for safety reasons. \r\n Sitings of ICE in Minneapolis are down significantly, as is the wonton violence we witnessed in January, but we are all still somewhat on edge. One evening we celebrated Iftar and I got to see many students - it was so fantastic! They were so happy to see each other! We are venturing forth, just like the buds on the trees, and in April, just to see one another will be a big celebration! The materials are being used by students daily in the library. Students visit me every period to have a warm beverage and a chat. We are so grateful for this to create a warm and inviting library space.\r\n\r\nThe self-care station is a big hit. Students stop by regularly for chapstick, bandaids, mints, hair ties and more. They are always so grateful and love having it available to them without having to ask a teacher in the school.\r\n\r\nThe legos were very popular. Students worked together and spent hours concentrating together to make the beautiful flowers. The fidgets have also been very well received. Students play with them often and borrow them if they are having a stressful day. I love seeing their smiling faces when they leave with something they didn't have before and they didn't have to ask someone, they can be self-sufficient!
