Middle Schoolers are at the time in their lives where many start going through puberty...this causes a lot of changes. One of those changes is body odor. I have many students that have expressed to me discomfort when it comes to talking about the need for deodorant with their parents or caregivers. So, that gave me the idea of creating this project on Donors Choose! Being able to supply students with a deodorant from a trusted adult has been a huge confidence booster for many of my students. They feel comfortable asking me for support when it comes to talking about body odor.\r\n\r\nThis donation came at a really great time as well with the impact our city of Minneapolis has faced since December of 2025. I have been able to ease one small fraction of discomfort by being able to give them a deodorant or shower wipe. \r\n\r\nThank you, once again, for your donation and support.","fullyFundedDate":1769469002684,"projectUrl":"project/student-hygiene/9922668/","projectTitle":"Student Hygiene","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chloe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10360996_orig.jpg?crop=2278,2278,x403,y655&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764003570740","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10360996"},{"teacherId":10360996,"projectId":10079153,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation(s). Students worked extremely hard on research projects related to the Civil Rights Movement for 7 weeks (about a quarter of school). Each week was a different part of the process; we started with learning about the Civil Rights Movement and gathering ideas, moved on to choosing a topic (every single student had a different topic from the others in their class), doing research (learning about primary and secondary sources), writing the rough draft of their 4-paragraph essay, editing that draft, writing the final draft, and finally, making a piece of art that is connected to their essay. Your lovely donations were put to work during the art component of their projects. \r\n\r\nI really wanted students to have creative control and freedom when it came to making their artwork. The only thing we were missing was supplies. The markers, color pencils, construction paper, scissors, glue, and more were used by every student when it came to creating their projects. They created really beautiful pieces of work that they wouldn't have been able to make without your donations. At the end of the 7 weeks, I invited the caregivers of my students and other staff members in the building to join my classes in the Media Center to showcase their projects. This day was called the \"Impact Fair.\" Students got the opportunity to inform others about what they learned and the impact their topics had on the Civil Rights Movement and the impact they continue to have on our country today. I received so much wonderful feedback from families that the projects were phenomenal and that they learned about an event or person that they didn't previously know about. The students were so proud of their hard work.\r\n\r\nThank you, once again, for your wonderful donation(s)!","fullyFundedDate":1770677580374,"projectUrl":"project/impact-project-supplies/10079153/","projectTitle":"Impact Project Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chloe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10360996_orig.jpg?crop=2278,2278,x403,y655&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764003570740","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10360996"},{"teacherId":9070302,"projectId":9669304,"letterContent":"My students have had so much success with the purchases that I have made with these TeachersPayTeachers gift cards. I can't tell you how much fun we have had! We have cooked a variety of different recipes, from spaghetti, shown in the pictures, to macaroni and cheese, tacos, poke bowls, brownies, cookies, etc. \r\n\r\nThe students have also learned skills, such as how to go shopping, how to fold laundry, how to clean around the house and classroom, how to order in a restaurant, and how to utilize public transportation. \r\n\r\nThese basic life skills can often be lacking in today's curriculum, so I believe it is necessary to teach these skills, especially to students on the autism spectrum, as they can be skills learned and reached and helpful in their daily life as they grow towards adulthood. So, much gratitude is expressed here in your contribution to my project. These students make my heart happy on a daily basis and you have brought joy to them through your contribution.
