With your help, our intervention team has also seen the value in this resource with my sturggling readers and has begun the process of purchasing their own manuals to use with many struggling readers across grade levels! The books fit very well with the current curriculum and system for teaching reading we have at my school. They are one of the most often used reading resources that we have in the classroom. On Friday afternoons, I have students bring their book bags to see what books they have, see if they have books that are a good fit for their evolving decoding skills, and to tell me about what they're interested in reading. \r\n\r\nWe also have a lot of small bags to store reading flashcards that have words with the particular letter-sound correspondences we've been studying. For instance, we have a bag with words like wave, bake, and grape for practicing the \"a\" and \"silent e\" combination. Students like to practice these together.
