These materials will allow my students to see themselves in the stories that we read. They can learn that they have an authentic voice and that their life experiences and culture are honored. These books will reflect images of my students' identities. This will help to build connections and a sense of belonging. Students will be able to hear the stories read to them during read-aloud times as well as having the opportunity to read the stories they love the most during independent reading. It will affirm who they are.
