I did have to take the project in a bit of a new direction due to lack of intended inventory. Instead of nap mats, I ended up ordering (through Donors Choose and approved by them) a privacy cube with mat inside. We have been using this for our \"calming corner.\"\r\n\r\nIt is so important for kids, especially our young PreK students, to have a place to breathe and use tools and strategies to calm big emotions. Our school uses the Zones of Regulation and we use the calming corner inside this cube to help students bring themselves back into the Green Zone, where they are ready to learn.\r\n\r\nMy students have so many big feelings throughout the day, some predictable and some very unpredictable. Having this calming corner/cube is a great strategy for calming down throughout the day. They came out so beautiful! \r\n\r\nOn Tuesday we had our infamous \"Walk the Runway\" where students were able to show off their fashion side and show off their new summer t-shirt. They loved walking on the red carpet alone and with peers- striking a pose for parents and other staff members! \r\n\r\nWhat a great way to end the school year and start the summer. This is one of my favorite traditions to do with my students before summer as they get this memory of me and their school year together with their peers.
