A Science Encyclopedia was a great help for our 5th grade Science teacher who sees 3 different classrooms of Science readers! Many of the series books were distributed to 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. The Dr. Seuss nonfiction books went to our Kindergarten classroom where they have a nice selection of Dr. Seuss books now! WOW! That is a lot of readers you helped out this year! \r\nIn addition, those books will be used by so many up and coming readers! What I've noticed is these books never get \"old\" in terms of reading, however they do get old and tattered. We were able to replace some of the beloved Dog Man books that were worn and falling apart because they have been loved by so many readers!\r\nThis year we've seen a nice increase in several areas. Students reading scores increased, many learned to love new series they had never read before, and many are still loving to read. Thank you again for donating to our lifelong readers and future readers to come!","fullyFundedDate":1773883774301,"projectUrl":"project/reading-is-just-fun/10088656/","projectTitle":"\"Reading Is Just Fun!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Byers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7719335_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x320,y320&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1610493454314","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7719335"},{"teacherId":10379361,"projectId":9952085,"letterContent":"Upon receiving your generous donations, our books for advanced reading group were ordered. It took a little while to get one of the book orders. I can tell you that the students have been so extremely excited about these books that they were asking me DAILY if the books had arrived! The day the books arrived, I couldn't number them and get them in hands fast enough. It was Christmas all over again. \r\n Our reading group has nearly devoured My Own Lighting already, and we will move on to Echo Mountain immediately after. The descriptive language used by Lauren Wolk has truly captured the full attention of my students. I have two avid readers in my group who went on to purchase more of these chapter books (more challenging reads even) from this author because of what I have now been able to offer my students in this reading group, thanks to you.\r\n Over the last year, I have been moving into my grandma's home since she passed. I have found dynamite boxes (yes, dynamite- they used it in farming!) full of school books and very well loved classics, once belonging to my great grand parents... WHEN THEY WERE CHILDREN. My family has placed such a value in education, and reading specifically, that they had preserved their own miniature book museum of sorts. To find a very dated copy of books like Robinson Crusoe. Books on Botony and even just the differences in their \"early readers\" compared to what we have today! These things are treasure to me. Treasure I hope to continue to share with my students in some capacity.\r\n I moved a small bookcase that had once belonged to my great grandparents from my basement to my classroom. It shows signs of obvious age. It lived in the basement, holding the books of my father's childhood. It held my grandmother's shorthand study books, along with numerous notepads full of her shorthand writing that may take me decades to decipher! It still has stubborn remnants of sawdust from my grandfather's famous cabinetry done in that basement, that I watched him work on... while reading one of my grandma's old books from that very bookcase. \r\n That bookcase now holds, with great pride, all of the book sets that I was able to purchase with your gifts to us. It holds a school year full of truly great imaginative writing. Experiences that I hope spark a lifetime love and appreciation for reading, education, growth, and understanding. Thank you for everything that you have given us.","fullyFundedDate":1768332856149,"projectUrl":"project/advanced-reading-group-needs-new-books/9952085/","projectTitle":"Advanced Reading Group Needs New Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thatcher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10379361_orig.jpg?crop=1778,1778,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766786271729","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10379361"},{"teacherId":3877803,"projectId":9560133,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project, \"A Clean, Hydrated, and Motivated First Grade.\"\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our 26 young learners will now have the essential resources they need to thrive this year.
