Unfortunately, due to space constraints, our original plan for the materials to go into a separate room were unable to come to fruition that school year. \r\n\r\nSince the project became fully funded, the materials that were purchased have been used in multiple spaces throughout our building. The sensory stepping stones are currently in use in my classroom, as well as some of the weighted animals. The sensory animal boards have been a huge hit as well. \r\n\r\nWe are currently planning a second project to create sensory bins in the classroom for the students. We have discovered that they need more individual, solitary items rather than group items. Proper paint brushes and a new puzzle may seem simple, but they open opportunities to endless new skills. Sitting at a table with friends, practicing fine motor skills, exploring new shapes and colors, learning new numbers or letters, and new on topic story books are just a few examples of the opportunities you open to these students. Their creativity can flourish thanks to your help and your understanding of the importance in nourishing their development especially at such a critical age.
