As a music specialist my goal is to foster physical, cognitive, social and emotional learning through music and motion. The use of hands-on musical instruments develops fine and gross motor skills and also increases verbal/non-verbal expression of feelings. My students have an array of special needs and in order to cater to each individual I bring a plethora of musical instruments to them so that each child is able to fully participate in the experience. This interactive program, brought to the inner city schools, sparks creativity and self expression while boosting self confidence; cooperative and social skills are taught using imaginative musical and literary materials. I combine music, movement and literature into a hands on program aimed to inspire, educate and energize.
