My students are LOVING our new library. With a new rug, new seating, the huge bean bag chair that everyone wants to sit in. This has created a more comfortable space in my room for students to go when they need a place to help with their learning/reading, but also when they just need a minute to calm down. On the first day of school when my students saw this library corner, they were SO excited. They want to sit in there all the time as they say it makes them feel calm and almost like they're at home. The same goes for the new main rug in my classroom. I even have former students coming to visit who say it looks so much better than it did last year, which is great to hear.\r\n\r\nNow that I do not have to worry about my classroom being comforting and welcoming, me and my students can now focus on our learning. It has been far easier to focus on my instruction when I don't have to worry about students feeling like they want to be here. The students were so excited to be able to own something new. The desk organizers are a huge help to me! I really appreciate your acknowledgment of the vision and the importance of providing our students with socio-emotional activities. These experiences help them engage in self-care practices and become more aware of their emotions, bodies, and self-esteem. Thanks to your new resources, we tried yoga on the latest mats and used the toss-and-talk ball to facilitate peer learning. The students were thrilled when they first saw the materials, realizing they were specifically for them. Before the MCAS testing, they explored various coping mechanisms in the classroom and at home after a long day. Moving forward, the next step in utilizing these fantastic resources is to encourage students to use them whenever they need a break to manage their emotions or to search for additional coping skills to handle stress. On behalf of the students, I want to thank you so much for your contribution to their mental health journey.
