Because of your kindness, our students had access to materials such as clay, popsicle sticks, glue, scissors, and tape that brought learning to life through hands-on experiences.\r\n\r\nThese supplies were used during two exciting Project-Based Learning (PBL) units: Natural Disasters and Tiny Houses. Students applied their knowledge by designing, building, testing, and improving models that demonstrated their understanding of real-world concepts. During our Natural Disasters unit, students created structures designed to withstand different environmental challenges and explored how engineers solve problems to keep people safe. In our Tiny Houses project, students designed and constructed model homes while considering space, function, and the needs of a client.\r\n\r\nHaving access to these materials allowed students to think creatively, collaborate with classmates, and develop critical problem-solving skills. Instead of simply reading about engineering concepts, they were able to experience the engineering design process firsthand by planning, building, revising, and presenting their work.","fullyFundedDate":1776261495172,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-our-ideas/10138897/","projectTitle":"Engineering Our Ideas","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grasso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sophia-grasso"},{"teacherId":8811651,"projectId":10285304,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for the donation of our dunk tank! Laminating individual student tasks, using Velcro for ordering days of the week and months, matching, etc are just some of the independent work activities for students. The binders get a workout through the year so new ones are necessary. During the summer I will be creating the individualized binders for the students for the next school year. Students are documenting experiments, capturing important moments during group work, and recording interviews as they research natural hazards. Their photos tell the story of curious learners asking questions, working together, and discovering new ideas.\r\n\r\nThe cameras have also helped students take ownership of their learning.
