The multicultural markers allow them to use colors that represent themselves authentically. We used them to create people of all the different shades and displayed them on the classroom door to welcome everyone into the room. The zen board gives individual students quiet creative time. It has been great for one student who needs to be busy but also needs breaks in between activities. The use of the Double- Sided Geo-Board Sets serves as a daily activity as it helps them with practicing their fine motor skills. As you may see some are able to create shapes that are a little more difficult than others. They love to color and create images therefore the construction paper and Dot- Markers are a big hit. I believe that if students feel comfortable, they'll be able to focus on school. If they're worried about their hair or teeth or body odor, it's going to be difficult to focus on Algebra. Don't even get me started on having access to regular pads rather than school pads. \r\n\r\nThe noise buffers have been an incredible success so far this year and in so glad that I used Donors Choose to get them! Students are regularly using them, particularly when working on big assignments in my classroom in their small group setting. Some students are using the over ear headphones and others feel much more comfortable using the foam ear plugs. I teach special education and fidgets genuinely help my students get their work done, stay focused in class, and regulate their energy and emotions so they can be the best students they can be.\r\n\r\nStarting the year off with a fully stocked fidget bin and a huge bag of fidgets under my desk to continue to restock makes me feel so prepared for the school year. I also am able to pull out a specific kind of fidget when I think a student would benefit. \r\n\r\nMy new students have quickly learned the fidget rules for my class and are using them as tools, not toys. It has allowed materials to be put in logical groupings and now students as well as other teachers can come into my classroom to find what they need. Being able to give better access to share with colleagues is an unforseen bonus and has allowed my project to impact even more students. My classroom has really been transformed.
