My students are from a struggling city. They face many issues at home and around town but our school is a place of safety and opportunity for them. As members of the film club (open to grades 6-12), my students are an enthusiastic bunch. Many are members of the school play and many find joy on the screen or in a book. They want to learn and they want to create. They are also part of a club called "The Collective" which has three branches, The Street Art Collective, The Film Collective, and The Music Collective. We are trying to build a collaborative after school arts program at our school through these three forms of artwork.
