Every day, I see students discovering new authors, characters, and worlds through the books you helped us add to our shelves.\r\n\r\n Early chapter books and graphic novels teach students to make predictions, infer character emotions, and build reading stamina while developing strong comprehension strategies. These books also introduce story structure, sequencing, and dialogue in ways that are accessible and fun for young readers, helping them bridge the gap between picture books and more complex texts.\r\n\r\nIn our library, reading looks joyful and active. Students gather on the rug for read-alouds, pair up to discuss favorite characters, or curl up in a cozy corner to finish a graphic novel they can't put down. Book talks and \"reader's choice\" displays have become highlights of the week, with students eagerly recommending titles to one another.\r\n\r\nSome of our most reluctant readers have blossomed because of these new additions. For example, we have had a lot of fun exploring with the LEGO Car Racing kit. They have had so much fun planning and designing their cars, which will culminate in a class race. We also look forward to using our KEVA Planks. In these, students will get to explore balance, proportion, and design by creating one of the challenges that come with the set or creating one of our own, including labyrinths.\r\n\r\nStudents at this age still love to discover and investigate through play. These STEM materials have enhanced our STEM learning and introduced students to many different ways to go through the engineering process, all while they forget they are learning.
