Over the last few years there has been an increase in the number of students being tested for special education services at my school. In many instances, I feel that it is a lack of exposure to the foundational literacy skills necessary to read and write. I see students in small groups of 5-6 students from each classroom. These students are selected based on need, but are not always reading at the same level. It is not uncommon to have one student reading at a significantly lower level than the other four. Access to an iPad will allow me to be more effective in my instruction. It will allow for that student who is reading at a lower level to work on basic skills while I get the other kids started. I will then be free to set him/her up with an appropriate levele
