Decodable texts provide them with an opportunity to practice the phonics skills they are learning in a supportive and successful way. Instead of guessing at words, students are able to apply their decoding strategies and experience the joy of reading independently.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these books, I have seen students become more engaged during reading lessons and more willing to take risks when reading unfamiliar words. The confidence they gain from successfully reading a book on their own carries over into other areas of learning as well. Some students who were once hesitant readers now eagerly reach for a book and are excited to share their reading success.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has provided more than just books—it has given students the opportunity to experience success, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of reading. To show students something on the board, demonstrate a math problem, or pull up a reading passage, I had to stand at my computer and teach from a distance. For a classroom of 5th graders with a wide range of needs and attention spans, that distance matters more than people might think.\r\n\r\nNow, with the iPad, I can screen share and teach from anywhere in the room! I can sit at the back table with a small group who needs extra support while still guiding the whole class through a lesson. I can kneel next to a student who's struggling and walk them through a problem on the screen without leaving everyone else behind. I can circulate, check in, and stay present, because the classroom comes with me.\r\n\r\nWhat my students respond to most is simply having me closer. When the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited. Something as simple as having fresh pencils, colorful markers, and working erasers ready to use made a big difference. Students immediately began organizing the supplies and were eager to start using them during our lessons.\r\n\r\nWe use these shared supplies every day across subjects. During writing and social studies activities, students use the markers to highlight key ideas, annotate texts, and add visuals to projects. Having reliable materials available allows students to focus on learning instead of worrying about whether they have the tools they need.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was watching students collaborate during a recent group project. Because everyone had access to the supplies, students were able to contribute equally, share ideas, and take pride in their work.
