These texts are not only fun, but they also let us talk about important reading skills like predicting, summarizing, and making connections.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks different depending on the time of day. During independent reading, students eagerly choose from our new library, often swapping books with friends when they finish. In small groups, my phonics students read aloud to me, applying the skills we are practicing in lessons. This allows me to hear their progress firsthand while giving them confidence to try out new words in the context of stories they love.\r\n\r\nThe excitement around these books is incredible.
