In Kindergarten, we play and sing silly songs on the rug. We listen to stories and read poems with catchy tunes on the rug. We learn the alphabet and practice counting on the rug. So many of our activities begin on the rug that these young emerging scholars truly deserve to have a colorful and comfortable place to kick off each and every lesson. So much growth happens on a classroom rug that I'm convinced it must be a magical zone for learning. Learning adventures begin on a magic rug! I envision my students sitting on their own little spot, ready to learn and eager to share their thoughts with their classmates. I imagine them working together helping each other make sense of what they are learning all while also learning to respect personal space. My hope is that this rug will provide my students with a safe common meeting area where they can all fall in love with the joys of learning.
