These books will be used during counseling sessions, individually and in groups, to develop a positive self-image. Some students who will benefit from these books are students with special needs that need additional support understanding the way other people look. They will also be available for teachers to use in their classrooms for socioemotional learning sessions. The simple fact of having these books displayed in the school makes a difference. I have had students ask me about books that represent themselves when they were moved to a different place. I have a very limited amount of books that represent different skin colors and I would like to have more.
