We also discussed themes such as self-esteem, working as a team, encouraging and supporting each other to feel confident, safe, and secure. In addition, we discussed the importance of consistency and discipline not only in sports but also in other aspects of life, especially at school.\r\n\r\nStudents enjoyed working together. I was able to go into the physical education class and present American Heart Association Friends and Family CPR to the students. The students were hesitant at first to become engaged in the hands on program. We were able to watch a video with an emergency scenario. It helped the students to understand the steps you need to take when assisting in an emergency. They need to assess the area to confirm it is safe but remember to alert EMS services.\r\nThe students were then able to practice and demonstrate hands on CPR.
