These supplies have made a meaningful difference in our classroom, not only by giving students the materials they need to complete their work, but also by helping them feel prepared, confident, and ready to learn each day.\r\n\r\nIn a middle school classroom, it is easy for students to arrive without something they need. Sometimes they forget a pencil, run out of paper, or do not have the supplies necessary to complete an activity. When I am able to provide these items, students do not have to worry about being unprepared or unable to participate. Instead, they can immediately get what they need and focus their attention on learning. Having access to supplies helps remove one more barrier between my students and their education. It also helps students feel cared for and supported because they know that our classroom is a place where they can find what they need to be successful.\r\n\r\nThe organization of our classroom supplies has also had a huge impact on the way our classroom runs. Because we have the supplies we need and have a designated place for everything, students know exactly where to find materials when they need them. This allows our lessons to flow much more smoothly. I am able to teach without constantly stopping to search for materials or pass supplies around the room, and my students know how to independently get what they need. Those few minutes saved throughout the day add up and allow us to spend more time learning, reading, writing, discussing, and practicing important skills.\r\n\r\nPerhaps one of the most meaningful impacts has been the responsibility my students have learned through caring for our classroom supplies. Students have specific expectations and responsibilities when it comes to getting materials, using them appropriately, and putting them back where they belong. Having access to a larger and more diverse classroom library allows my students to find books that truly interest them and gives them more opportunities to discover the types of stories they enjoy. One of the biggest challenges I have found as an ELA teacher is helping students see reading as something they can enjoy rather than something they are simply required to do. When students have a limited selection of books, it can be difficult for them to find a story that catches their attention. The generous donations of books have helped change that by giving my students more choices and allowing them to explore different genres, topics, authors, and reading levels. I have seen students become excited when they find a book that feels like it was chosen specifically for them. Some students are drawn to fantasy and adventure, while others prefer realistic fiction, mysteries, sports stories, graphic novels, or books about topics they are already interested in. Having a variety of books means that there is a better chance every student can find something that sparks their curiosity. This choice has helped create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to read for enjoyment and to develop their own reading identities. My students are able to browse the shelves, pick up books, read the back covers, look through the pages, and make their own decisions about what they want to read next. For some students, finding the right book has been the difference between saying, \"I don't like reading,\" and becoming excited to tell me about a book they are currently reading. I love seeing students recommend books to one another, talk about characters and storylines, and get excited when a new book arrives in our classroom library. Donations have also allowed me to keep adding fresh and engaging choices to our collection so that returning students do not feel like they have already read everything available. A growing classroom library gives students the opportunity to try something new without feeling pressured to commit to a book that may not be right for them. If they start a book and realize it is not interesting to them, they can choose another one and continue searching until they find a better fit. This is an important part of helping students understand that reading is personal and that it is okay to have preferences. The donations have helped me create a classroom that feels inviting, exciting, and full of possibilities. Every new book added to our shelves represents another opportunity for a student to discover a favorite author, a new genre, or a story that stays with them. I am incredibly grateful for the support that has helped make our classroom library a place where students can explore, choose, and become excited about reading.","fullyFundedDate":1636401905969,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-sergio-loves-books/5950167/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Sergio Loves Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sergio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6145141_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691155201838","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6145141"},{"teacherId":6145141,"projectId":5853502,"letterContent":"We can't thank you enough for all of your generous donations to our classroom!
