My students are using the magnet board, magnetic tiles, cubes, pattern blocks, and letters during center time to explore building, sorting, and early literacy in meaningful and playful ways. It has been really amazing to see my students use their imagination and create using these materials. One notable moment was watching one of my students build the characters from Number Blocks using the magnetic cubes! \r\n\r\nOne exciting thing that we were able to do with the materials from this project was create snow clothes magnets. I printed out pictures of snow clothes, laminated them and stuck magnets on the backs. Students then used them at the magnetic board to practice the order of which to put snow clothes on which was a fun way to practice. We even made magnets with students' faces on them so they could have even more fun with it. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate! They were eager to touch, test, and explore what stuck and how the pieces worked together. Many students jumped right into experimenting, discovering how magnets connect, repel, and support their creations through trial and error. The few magnetic toys we had in the classroom prior were always a big hit so having many more for my students to choose from has been amazing! \r\n\r\nThese materials have become an important part of working STEAM and literacy lessons into center time in a meaningful way. Coming up we will have a center where the students will use the magnetic letters to build their names and practice letter recognition at the magnetic board. \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are developing curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that will support them far beyond our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1763575982415,"projectUrl":"project/learning-that-really-sticks/9860321/","projectTitle":"Learning That Really Sticks!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. S","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9742572_orig.jpg?crop=621,621,x573,y65&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727497879090","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9742572"},{"teacherId":6762481,"projectId":9886816,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations. They were especially excited to try out the new paint sticks— they love how many different colors there are to choose from! We've also had a lot of fun using the paint dotters and the liquid watercolors! \r\n\r\nWe have been using the watercolor paper with our new liquid watercolors and watercolor paint sets, the tempera paint cakes, paint dotters, paint sticks, stamp ink pads, colored paper, colored paint bowls, markers and crayons at our art table during centers. The new easel paper, colored paper, paint cups and paint brushes have been a big hit at the art easel at center time as well. We've also been using the paint sticks in small- group activities. Coming up we will be using the liquid watercolors and watercolor paper to make paintings using pipettes and water droppers!
