The fan and lamp have made the room more comfortable and focused, while the vacuum helps us care for our shared space. The laminator has also allowed me to protect frequently used maps, directions, and activity materials so students can use them throughout the year.\r\n\r\nStudents will use these resources as they continue working together on historical investigations and answering compelling questions about the civilizations we study. These materials have helped restore the routines, choices, and sense of community that support their learning each day. The accessible seating and instructional resources provided by this project had an immediate positive impact on my students. When the new desks, chairs, and easel/writing pad arrived, students were bubbling with excitement about these additions. There were many volunteers who were eager to help put together the new furniture and materials. The excitement and investment they had in assembling our new supplies has given them a sense of ownership and responsibility toward these supports, helping them to stay in great condition throughout the school year. \r\n\r\nSince we have put these donated seating and instructional materials to use, accessibility in my classroom has increased greatly. Wheelchair-using students in my class now have more seating options and are able to move around the classroom with fewer restrictions since the new tables take up less space than the district-provided desks. Students who prefer to stand are able to work at the high-top table, and those wishing to sit on the ground have a comfortable space to do so with our floor seating options. We are able to make group work and direct instruction move to students with limited mobility now that we have a dry erase easel. Students frequently comment that they feel comfortable in the space, and this reflects in the quality of work and collaboration they've shown since the project was funded. All of these improvements would not have been possible without your generous donations.
