When students are able to choose books that interest them, they are more likely to become invested in what they are reading. Students have been able to explore different genres, topics, characters, and perspectives while developing their individual reading preferences. The new books have also given students opportunities to recommend books to one another and talk about what they are reading, helping create a stronger reading community within the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe books have also allowed me to provide more individualized support for my students. Middle school classrooms include readers with a wide range of abilities, and having books at different reading levels allows me to better meet those needs. This computer has given me a dependable tool that allows me to do my job more efficiently and, most importantly, gives me more time and opportunities to focus on my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has been the ability to use our Amplify curriculum more effectively. I am able to use the computer to access and keep track of student data, monitor student progress, and review the information that helps me make instructional decisions. Instead of having to wait until I have access to another computer or spend additional time trying to manage data, I can quickly pull up the information I need while I am planning or working with students. This makes it much easier for me to identify students who need additional support and determine which skills we need to continue practicing. Being able to see what students are doing allows me to quickly address distractions, provide assistance when a student is stuck, and make sure students are using their technology for learning. It also allows me to keep a closer eye on students who may need additional reminders or support without interrupting the learning of the entire class.\r\n\r\nAnother major benefit is the flexibility the computer gives me when entering grades and completing other teacher responsibilities. I am able to enter grades and update information from different locations rather than being limited to one specific computer in the classroom. This may seem like a small convenience, but for a teacher, those extra minutes and added flexibility make a significant difference. I can work on grades during planning, after school, or even from another location when necessary. This allows me to spend less time worrying about when and where I can complete paperwork and more time preparing meaningful instruction for my students.\r\n\r\nThe computer has also helped me become more organized and efficient.
