Getting students to read is no easy task. Getting them engaged with a book is even harder. When I found this book, it was an instant favorite and they were hooked! I was able to read the first chapter to them at the beginning of the year and they fell in love with the story, because the main character was so relatable to them and they saw some of themselves in this character. Suddenly, I found it difficult to get them to put the book down to work on other tasks. It was an amazing sight to see and the absolute best \"problem\" a teacher could ask for!\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they saw that they each had access to a copy of the book for the entire study and they were happy to have a designated spaced in the binders to keep their work organized! They happily chat about this book and they are truly grateful for the gifts you have given them. We are almost finished with the book study and, when I asked what they would be interested in reading next, they asked if they could continue the series! I want to thank you all for giving my students, not just the materials, but the chance to be able to fall in love with reading!","fullyFundedDate":1758828676419,"projectUrl":"project/what-a-novel-idea-a-book-study/9661463/","projectTitle":"What a Novel Idea: a Book Study","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bianchi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6522699_orig.jpg?crop=1158,1158,x0,y104&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1612802923134","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6522699"},{"teacherId":3614631,"projectId":9724433,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for your generous donations to my STEM project. Pencils are used daily for writing stories, solving math problems, and practicing neat handwriting. Clipboards give students the freedom to move beyond their desks, allowing them to work on the carpet, in small groups, or even outdoors, turning every space into a learning space. Crayon container cases keep supplies neat and accessible, helping students transition quickly and focus more on their creativity rather than searching for missing materials. Together, these tools help students take ownership of their learning while building responsibility and confidence.\r\n\r\nDuring math time, my first graders love using their clipboards for activities that get them moving. For example, in a \"Math Around the Room\" lesson, students walked with clipboards to solve addition and subtraction problems posted on the walls. They used their pencils to carefully show their work, checking and rechecking their answers. These simple tools—clipboards, pencils, and organized crayons—help turn math into an active, hands-on experience that keeps students focused, engaged, and proud of their work. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first received their new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. They were so proud to have their own clipboards, pencils, and crayon cases, and couldn't wait to start using them. These simple tools instantly made them feel important, responsible, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nIn reading and writing, the next steps for my students are to strengthen their ability to respond to text with complete sentences and illustrations. Using their clipboards, they'll move around the room during a \"Read and Respond\" activity, jotting down answers to comprehension questions. With their pencils, they'll work on writing neatly and adding details to their sentences. Finally, they'll use their crayon containers to illustrate their responses, adding color and creativity to show their understanding. These steps help students connect reading and writing in a meaningful, engaging way.","fullyFundedDate":1757297037375,"projectUrl":"project/clip-color-create-supplies-to-keep-us/9673230/","projectTitle":"Clip, Color, Create: Supplies to Keep Us Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Peters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp538254_orig.jpg?crop=414,414,x384,y527&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722727433231","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hpeters"},{"teacherId":3432535,"projectId":6220323,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding the project for my classroom.
