These instruments have transformed our lessons, allowing students to explore melodies and rhythms in a hands-on, meaningful way. For many of our students, this is the first time they've had access to real instruments, and their excitement is unmistakable each time they walk into the room.\r\n\r\nWe have been using our new xylophones with picture books to create sound stories--adding musical elements to the existing story with books like \"The Leaf Man\" by Lois Ehlert. These lessons allow students to connect music and literacy, creating a more well-rounded learner. \r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than just supply instruments—it has helped create a richer, more equitable learning environment. In a school where resources are often limited, having quality instruments like xylophones levels the playing field and allows every child to experience the power of music. Students are not only learning to recognize notes and patterns but also gaining confidence, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the arts. We are truly grateful for your belief in the importance of music education and for helping us bring it to life in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1752586513960,"projectUrl":"project/mallet-musicians-making-music/9454492/","projectTitle":"Mallet Musicians Making Music!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Beck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4383038_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1490791758824","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsbeckmusic"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30501","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":403,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":85,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"11.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":84.3,"schoolId":30501,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Side School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Side School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/harrisburg-community-unit-3/westside-primary-school/30501"}
