Having access to high-interest texts has also made it easier for us to practice reading stamina and learn how to choose books that truly speak to us.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is now something students look forward to, especially now that English Language learners can read in the comfort of their native language. We start our periods with quiet reading time, and the room settles into this calm, focused energy as everyone dives into their books. Afterward, students pair up to talk about what they read, ask each other questions, and share connections they're making. It feels less like an assignment and more like a community of readers growing together.\r\n\r\nThere are already standout moments that wouldn't have happened without these books. One student who rarely checked out anything from our library has now finished two novels and is asking for recommendations. These are not just toys; they are essential tools that will profoundly impact our learning environment and the emotional well-being of our students.\r\n\r\nThe weighted animals provide what we call \"deep pressure input,\" which is crucial for many students who struggle with anxiety or focus. Placing one of these animals on a lap or shoulder offers an immediate sense of grounding and security. This helps students regulate their nervous systems during transitions, moments of stress, or when they simply need a few moments to collect themselves before re-engaging with complex tasks. We expect to see a significant improvement in sustained attention and reduced fidgeting during individual work time, all thanks to your thoughtful contribution.\r\n\r\nSimilarly, the light breathing pattern animals are invaluable for teaching concrete self-regulation strategies. These visual aids walk students through paced, mindful breathing, transforming an abstract concept (\"take a deep breath\") into a manageable, sensory experience. They provide a safe, non-verbal way for students to practice coping skills, manage big emotions, and rapidly return to a calm state ready for learning.\r\n\r\nYour donation demonstrates a true understanding of the link between emotional health and academic success. By providing resources that help our students feel calm, safe, and regulated, you are directly investing in their ability to thrive both socially and academically.\r\n\r\nThank you, once again, for your commitment to our students.
