Students have been earning patches to make hats and scarves as part of their positive behavior reinforcement plans. Some students who are in temporary living situations have asked to make hats for their family members as gifts. No scratch paper needed and no hesitation. The table has made problem solving feel more inviting, creative, and collaborative.\r\nThe jumbo timer has also become an essential part of our routines. Students appreciate being able to visually track how much time they have left and it has dramatically reduced the constant \"Do we still have time?\" questions that used to interrupt our flow. It has a color coded large display which helps everyone stay on pace, and we especially love that it stops itself from ringing. This keeps our classroom calm while still giving us the structure we need. These tools have helped students develop independence, time management skills, and confidence in their ability to tackle challenging math tasks. \r\nEach new resource in this project is helping students think more deeply, practice more purposefully, and engage more joyfully in math. From the moment the desks arrived, students were so excited that we had to create a shared document to ensure every student had a fair opportunity to try the new seating options. Their enthusiasm has translated into purposeful use: students naturally gravitate toward the desks when they need a separate space to focus, avoid distractions, or work independently. Many have shared that the space helps them feel less overwhelmed, supports their sensory needs, and allows them to find a physical and mental position where they can do their best thinking. \r\nThese flexible seating options have already transformed how my students approach their learning. I have watched students who typically struggle with attention for anxiety settle into their work more calmly when they use the desks. Others choose the desks when they want to tackle challenging tasks because the change in environment helps them reset and fully engage. The ability to manage sensory input, reduce anxiety, and access a comfortable workspace has created a more inclusive and supportive classroom for all learners.\r\nAs we continue to work through our rigorous math and science units this year, I plan to make the desks a permanent and intentional part of our classroom environment. Their versatility gives students real choices in how they learn best, and I've already seen how empowering those choices can be. Thanks to your thoughtful contribution, our project-based learning approach has come to life in meaningful and lasting ways. The resources have played a crucial role in helping our students research and present their favorite animals, turning what could have been a simple task into a rich, hands-on learning experience.\r\n\r\nThe headphones and TIME magazines, in particular, proved to be invaluable tools. As our scholars conducted research on their iPads, the ability to tune out distractions in the classroom allowed them to concentrate fully on their work. The focus they were able to achieve with the headphones and variety magazines resulted in deeper understanding and more thorough research. Whether they were reading about their animal in the TIME magazines or listening to videos helped them absorb information in a way that worked best for their individual learning styles. This seemingly small addition made a huge difference in the quality and depth of their work.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the cardstock, LEGOs and the resources I could purchase with the TPT gift card provided a wonderful outlet for creativity. After conducting research and gathering facts about their animals, our students eagerly began to create visual representations of their chosen species through arts and crafts. From designing intricate animal models to creating colorful posters and dioramas, the cardstock and LEGOs allowed them to combine knowledge with artistic expression. This process helped solidify their understanding of the material in a fun and engaging way, allowing them to present their research visually and share it with their classmates.\r\n\r\nYour support has done far more than simply provide supplies. It has empowered our students to take ownership of their learning, explore their passions, and connect with their peers in a meaningful way. The impact of your generosity will continue to be felt in the work they do throughout the rest of the year, and we are deeply grateful for your continued belief in their potential.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your kindness and for playing such an important role in their educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1723253514589,"projectUrl":"project/awesome-activities-for-our-scholars/8490757/","projectTitle":"Awesome Activities for Our Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Delgado-Saldana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1012295_orig.jpg?crop=1089,1089,x0,y590&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660957441081","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-delgado-saldana"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5362","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":654,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":25,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.7,"schoolId":5362,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pritzker School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pritzker School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/pritzker-school/5362"}
