He grabbed a clipboard, stepped onto the walking pad at a gentle pace, and cleared his mind. Within minutes, his frustration evaporated, and he happily wrote an entire page while staying in motion.\r\n\r\nThese amazing resources have completely transformed our classroom by turning our vision of a dedicated sensory \"recharge station\" into a daily reality. The new books have given each student the opportunity to hold a book in their hands, follow along during our lessons, study the illustrations, and become an active participant in our reading. We have been using the books to practice important literacy skills such as making predictions, identifying characters and setting, retelling important events, finding the main idea and supporting details, building vocabulary, and making connections between the stories and our own lives.\r\n\r\nReading is a special part of our day. We gather together for read-alouds, conversations, partner discussions, and literacy lessons. Our new classroom carpet has helped create a comfortable and structured gathering space where students know it is time to come together as a classroom community, listen, share their ideas, and learn from one another. It has been especially helpful for my energetic learners who benefit from having a clearly defined space to sit, focus, and participate.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding things has been seeing students of all reading levels become excited about our new books. Some of my developing readers who may have been hesitant to participate are much more engaged when they have their own copy to follow along with. Your gift has allowed us to easily locate specific examples for each of the ten genres in the challenge. Some students still find it difficult to identify the different types of fiction so this has been a huge help. \r\n\r\nAfter a child finishes a genre, they have an opportunity to design a button and add it to their lanyard. As you can see in the image, their lanyards are filling up. \r\n\r\nYour contribution has allowed me to introduce them to more than realistic fiction. Some of them are finding new genres and authors they love.
