Your generosity in helping us secure the resources we needed made all the difference for our students.\r\n\r\nBoth teams were so relieved to receive their materials in time to practice and create builds for their events. We utilized every single item to construct and experiment with models for numerous competitions. It was remarkable to witness our students apply the engineering process so thoughtfully - developing ideas, sketching designs, testing prototypes, redesigning based on what they learned, and retesting to refine their work. The results were outstanding models, including helicopters, hovercrafts, scramblers, boomilevers, and Rube Goldberg machines. Beyond engineering, other students explored forensic science, studied rocks and minerals, learned cryptography, and investigated anatomy. Watching the kids light up as they discovered so many different scientific fields and became passionate about collaborating and creating together was truly special.\r\n\r\nThe academic success speaks for itself - several of our teams placed in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at their events. None of this would have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nThis has been one of my favorite experiences as a teacher, and it's something both my students and I will remember forever. The excitement around Science Olympiad has grown tremendously this year, with returning participants and many new students joining who didn't participate previously. It has been so fun for my students (and me!) to have the new materials and activities provided from your generous support.\r\n\r\nAs part of my therapy with students on the autism spectrum and with developmental delays, we work on social language skills, including following directions, taking turns, waiting patiently, and problem solving everyday challenges in social interactions. The materials provided as part of my project have given us new avenues to practice and explore these skills.\r\n\r\nMany of my students have been thrilled to see the new games I have received, including Cootie, emotions Jenga and Candyland. It has been so much fun to see their faces light up when they have seen these activities for the first time. One little guy, a second grader, felt so important to help me unbox and set up the games! In my classroom, the cardboard cutting tools were such a hit. The relief my middle school students felt when they learned that they didn't have to hack away at their Paper Mache armatures with scissors was hilarious-quotes like \"this is going to save me so much time!\" and \"You should have ordered more than one!\" were abundant throughout class periods. In the elementary classes, students were thrilled to test out cutting wavy lines and circles out of cardboard, and we even used it to cut felt and cardstock. At the end of the school year, the small handheld cardboard cutter was used to break down boxes and organize the art room, and several other middle school teachers borrowed it for their students' diorama finals. These cardboard tools were also used for school play backdrops, classroom decor, and many, many teacher projects across the building. I am excited to start the 2026-2027 school year with these tools, where we'll use them in first semester 8th grade engineering in addition to all our normal art antics.
