We've been focusing on ensemble tuning and tone production, and having instruments with fresh, reliable strings has made a remarkable difference in our sound.\r\n\r\nEvery year, our seventh-grade students begin learning how to peg tune, a valuable but delicate skill, and during this process, our old, well-used strings often break. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to replace several broken and worn strings right away. The improvement was immediate: our ensemble sounded more resonant, unified, and confident. The students could hear the difference and were so motivated to keep practicing to match that beautiful tone.\r\n\r\nMany of our students can only participate in music because our school provides instruments from our classroom inventory. These instruments are loved and well used, so having quality materials available is essential. The new strings not only keep our instruments playable, but they also help students feel like real musicians and be proud of the sound they create and the progress they're making.\r\n\r\nNow that our instruments are in top playing shape, we're preparing for our first concert of the year on October 21! We're focusing on ensemble blend, intonation, and expressive playing. These skills are much easier to develop when our instruments respond beautifully.\r\n\r\nYour gift of new strings didn't just fix our instruments; it elevated the entire learning experience. Thank you for supporting our young musicians and helping their music shine.","fullyFundedDate":1746464114609,"projectUrl":"project/strings-and-things/9246534/","projectTitle":"Strings and Things","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Madrid","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6333789_orig.jpg?crop=300,300,x0,y29&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1678387317476","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6333789"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52588","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":537,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":62.3,"schoolId":52588,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakes Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakes Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/idaho/coeur-d-alene-public-schools/lakes-middle-school/52588"}
