The Pacific-centered world map, Hawaiʻi flag, and U.S. flag also help make geography and civic identity a visible part of our classroom every day.\r\n\r\nYour donation has helped me build a classroom where students can follow their curiosity. Having the necessary cleaning products, we are able to keep our room not only tidy, but keep germs at bay. It teaches the students good hygiene, cleaning up after themselves, and learning about germs and how to do their part in not spreading them.\r\n\r\nWhile their excitement was not as evident for cleaning products, they did appreciate the amount of snacks available to them. They do understand that in order to enjoy those snacks, they must do their part in participating in whatever unit we are doing for the day.\r\n\r\nWe will continue to keep our space clean and free of germs as best we can. With snacks in the room, it helps with motivation and engagement. My students were used to participating in certain sports and activities because of limited resources. I am doing my best to change that. They are being pushed out of their comfort zone and some are uncomfortable. I do believe that with slow introduction and consistency, they come around to trying new things.\r\n\r\nMy hope is to continue introducing new things and pushing students outside of their comfort zone so that they can experience things that they normally don't put themselves apart of. I hope to give them some guidance and structure in an area where they got have full freedom in. They analyzed texture, shape, and structure before making evidence-based predictions about what type of organism they had uncovered. We also began a forensic science mini-unit using the fingerprinting materials. Students learned about fingerprint patterns, examined their own prints, and compared them to sample evidence. Watching them realize that every fingerprint is unique sparked discussions about identity, genetics, and scientific investigation. \r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided materials—it has provided opportunity.
