The at-risk youth at the school benefit from real-world applications and hands-on learning. "Sewing Our Way to Confidence," is a project that will give students the opportunity to be fully immersed in an interdisciplinary project that focuses on business, music, and sustainable fashion/design. The final project will be a fashion show where the students will walk down a runway that they built, wearing their self-made designs, and they'll walk to musical beats that they created! Emotionally, theyʻll benefit from this project as well. Many of these youth have experienced severe trauma in their upbringing and they lack confidence (among many other things). They forget how to hold their heads high. My colleagues and I will provide the encouragement to show their own unique self-expression and weʻll teach them skills to be confident, humble individuals. While we will provide the math, music, reading, writing and social-emotional lessons, I kindly ask that you help by providing the funding for the sewing machines. Please help make this vision a reality! Mahalo and aloha, Ms. L
