Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference. The snacks included in this project were a tremendous help for many of my students this year. At our school, some students come to class hungry, and having snacks available helped them stay focused, regulated, and engaged throughout the day. Several students expressed gratitude when they realized there was something available to eat, and it was incredible to see how meeting a basic need helped create a more positive learning environment.\r\n\r\nWhile many of the science materials will be used during the upcoming school year, my students are already excited about what is to come. Next year, we will use the owl pellet kits, terrariums, seed-growing supplies, STEM kits, and biology resources to explore ecosystems, heredity, evolution, and scientific inquiry through hands-on learning. These materials will allow students to investigate, build, observe, and discover rather than simply read about science from a textbook. For many of my students, learning by doing is what makes science accessible and engaging.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, future students will have opportunities to grow plants, study food webs, build miniature ecosystems, and participate in authentic science experiences that foster curiosity and confidence. I look forward to sharing photos, student discoveries, and the many memorable moments that will result from your kindness. We were able to transform our learning from the classroom into hands on activities. These activities improve the students independent living skills so they know how to grow their own food. The pictures that I have shared are from the seed germination process in our Outdoor Garden project. The students were so excited to be able to plant 24 seedlings in the rockwool. The heat mats were something new to try because the classroom is very cold because of the AC. Being able to incorporate new tools and technologies allows the students to prepare for the future.\r\n\r\nOut of the 24 seeds that were planted, only 3 plants were able to break through. These 3 plants allowed the students an opportunity to learn the patience and balance it takes for the plants to mature. Only 1 plant remains alive because there was too much sunlight and too much water that killed the other plants. The students are learning that too much of anything can still be bad for you. Too much sunlight in the beginning burns and hurts the plant, while too much water will drown the plant. In Hawaiian culture, we treat plants with love and care because they are living beings. By tending to nature, the students will be better prepared to tend to the necessities of life. Thank you for giving them a more hands on learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1771702263904,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-garden/10108703/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Garden","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cody","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9812514"},{"teacherId":9791585,"projectId":10106335,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my social studies classroom library project. Your generosity has helped create a more inviting, accessible, and engaging learning space for my students.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, students now have easy access to books and materials that make history feel more real, visual, and connected to their lives. The rotating bookshelf gives them a place to browse before class, during work time, or when they finish early. Instead of relying only on textbooks, students can explore visual histories, map collections, and \"Big Ideas\" books that help them enter complex topics in a less intimidating way.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already made a difference by giving students more choices in how they connect with history. Students can explore topics like the World Wars, the American Revolution, economics, sociology, hip-hop history, global history, and geography through materials that are engaging and approachable. The Pacific-centered world map, Hawaiʻi flag, and U.S. flag also help make geography and civic identity a visible part of our classroom every day.\r\n\r\nYour donation has helped me build a classroom where students can follow their curiosity. These materials support independent reading, small group stations, enrichment activities, and research projects tied directly to our units.
