Our school has been known to take at-risk students in the Windward community of O'ahu. Our enrollment for 7th and 8th grade has quadrupled in one school year, with more on a waitlist​. Our 7th and 8th grade students created their own program and learning space. Through the problem-based learning model, students redesigned an old garden, on campus, to create their own learning space. This program has positively addressed chronic absenteeism, school climate, and 9th grade on-track by creating a place of belonging. Their program uses dogs to integrate curriculum in science, English, and social studies and spark students' interests.
